Chain Link Fencing Frequently Asked Questions |
How deep do chain link fence posts need to be? |
When burying chain link fence posts, you need to ensure that you leave the desired fence height above ground to support your 90cm high, 120cm high, or 180cm high chain-link fencing. The depth will depend on the height of the fencing you will be installing, but as a general rule, aim to have around 550mm in the ground. |
Do chain link fence posts need to be cemented? |
Yes, chain link fence posts must be concreted into the ground to prevent movement when tensioning your line wire and chain-link fencing. |
Can you install a chain link fence yourself? |
If you follow our guidance, anybody should be able to install our chain-link fencing and post system. We offer convenient chain-link kits in a variety of sizes, and our expert sales team is on hand to answer any questions you may have. |
Can you attach a chain link fence to a wood post? |
It is possible to attach a chain link fence to a wood post with Fitting Kits, however we recommend using our steel tubular post system. Tubular posts offer a number of benefits over wood and other alternatives, including a lower weight for transportation and, due to the cylindrical structure, impressively high strength which makes them the perfect post choice for tensioned chain link fencing. The galvanized finish underneath the green coating also provides a longer lifespan than wooden posts. All of the fittings we supply are specifically for use with this system, including brackets which fit easily to the spine of the post. |
How long will a chain link fence last? |
Properly fitted, good-quality chain link fencing can last for many years. Our fully galvanised, green-coated chain link fencing and post system is sourced from ISO-registered European manufacturers to provide a long lasting solution to your fencing needs that you can have confidence in. |
How far apart should chain link fence posts be? |
The recommended distance between chain-link posts ranges from 2 metres up to a maximum of 3.15 metres. |
